Despicable Me 2 (2013)

About the music in Despicable Me 2

Everyone’s favorite Minions are back. Luckily for soundtrack fans, so are Heitor Pereira and Pharrell Williams. The two were responsible for the music in the first film. Their work on Despicable Me earned them an Annie Award nomination so it’s good to see them come back for a second round.

The music in the film is festive and has a deliberate Latin flavor in many of Heitor’s compositions mainly due to the main villain [spoiler alert] El Macho. Producer Pharrell Williams stays festive by bringing his signature soulful beats for many of his compositions as well. Add those two elements with a few chart topping songs from David Guetta and Pitbull and you have everything you need for a perfect summer soundtrack.

Of course, let’s not forget the little guys who also add a few songs to the mix. The Minions sing a few songs in the movie including the tracks “I Swear”, “Y.M.C.A.” and “Another Irish Drinking Song”. Of course the lyrics are sung in Minion Gibberish but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

The full song list from the movie is now available below.  Let us know what you think about the music used in Despicable Me 2 in the comments!
